Urmas Eero Liiv's feature film "Must alpinist" (Ghost Mountaineer) is a youth film with elements of horror which is based on real life events which took place during the Soviet era. It tells the story of an Soviet Estonian student hiking group which gets caught up in a series of scary events unfolding in wintry Siberia. The unpopular group leader Olle (Reimo Sagor), who becomes disappointed in his companions during the trip, disappears on the last day in the mountains. His rival, liberal-minded and adventurous Eero (Priit Pius) guides the descending hikers into a Buryate village on the mountain to seek help. A weird and insane chain of events is unleashed which seems to be orchestrated by the missing Olle. In a foreign land and among people they do not know, the hikers are faced with a task which they at first do not want to undertake and later are unable to tackle.
A Friend of Mine

The Days That Confused
Triin Ruumet's tragicomedy Päevad, mis ajasid segadusse (2016) is a story of a young man trying to make sense of life in the summer heat of late nineties Estonia. The 27-year- old protagonist Allar moves from one provincial party to another, meeting colourful characters and finding himself in evermore confusing circumstances. The amounting tension and absurdity of surrounding events lead Allar to give serious thought to his life. What follows, is a frantic journey through midsummer Estonia to finally discover meaning in oneself.
Fast-paced action comedy "The Dissidents" takes us back to the 1980s. Three Estonian guys flee Soviet Union, because they want to have as awesome life in the free world as they've seen in TV series "Miami Vice", "Knight Rider" and "Santa Barbara". Swedes welcome friends as real heroes, who broke through the Iron Curtain. But as the media circus blows over, our dissidents discover that they've become nothing more than tedious immigrants. To put food on the table, they have to do something as lame as... work! But the boys are no quitters, so they come up with new crazy plans that should guarantee success in the Western world. That's when things go totally insane!

The past however catches up with him and Endel has to choose between letting his students down or putting his life in danger. The movie is partially based on the real life story of an Estonian fencer Endel Nelis (1925-1993).
